PROJECT: Residential development at Strathkinness

DESCRIPTION: Masterplan for residential development of village green.
Strathkinness Village lies approximately 1.5 miles west of St Andrews and is considered the principal commuter village for the University Town. The development site comprised 5 acres of isolated farm land situated in the centre of the conservation village. Over a period of nearly 4 years this sensitive site was master planned using a vocabulary of traditional architectural designs which disguised a highly sophisticated contemporary living provision, and which responded in a well-mannered way to its historic context.
Thirty two houses comprising 9 house types make a major contribution to existing streetscapes and provide a backdrop to the new Village Green which in turn provides an appropriate setting for the main civic buildings associated with the settlement.
The development won the Best Development (small) category in the 2013 Homes for Scotland awards.
