DESCRIPTION: Refurbishment of historic flat in Edinburgh’s Old Town
Gilberts were commissioned in 2010 to design the refurbishment of this flat within a Category A listed building in the heart of the Old Town Conservation Area and Edinburgh World Heritage Site.
This small property was transformed into a luxury apartment featuring a roof terrace, barrel-vaulted kitchen, and a projecting bay window with views over Princes Street Gardens. The refurbishment included the retention of many of the original features, while creating a modern and comfortable interior. As part of the listed building consent a section of the original Jacobian decorated ceiling was exposed behind a glazed hatch in the master bedroom.
